Southern Norway

We plan to spend a few weeks in Norway late August/September, is driving the southern coast visiting Kristiansand , Risor and other coastal towns a good plan?

It's certainly a plan. If it's a good plan or not depends very much on what you're looking for and what you're interested in.

The Southern coast (e. g. scenic route Jæren) and also the inner land have some beautiful spots such as the route Skien - Rjukan. If you drive route 9 have a look at Viltgården, a moose visitor center (map link).

Lindesnes with the lighthouse and the underwater restaurant is worth a visit although not an around the corner drive.

Also Kristiansand with its ferry port has its own beauty (tip for a walk), esp, the architecture of the Kilden concert and opera house.

Sandefjord has a whaling museum incl. a former whaling ship (Southern Actor).

And so much more, e. g. Southern Norway page by Visit Norway.
