We are taking the RS tour to Scandinavia in July/August. That includes a 2 + hour cruise on the Sognefjord. But afterwards we are also thinking after to take a ferry from Bergen to Balestrand and then on to Flam/Myrdal for the Flamsbana train. ( And ultimately to Oslo). The ferry that we would take from Balestrand includes some fjord cruising on the Sognefjord. But we don't want to duplicate the RS fjord portion. Anybody know what part of the Sognefjord RS tour includes? Any other thoughts on fjord tours from Balestrand that would get used to Flam? Thanks.

Based on the itinerary: “After breakfast our bus will climb the highest road in northern Europe (4,600 ft.) to the windswept Jotunheimen for a panorama of glittering snow and 8,100-foot peaks. We'll then take a dramatic corkscrew-drive down to sea level and hop aboard a ferry for a 2½-hour scenic Sognefjord cruise between cliffs and waterfalls (replicating the fjord cruise portion of the "Norway in a Nutshell" route).”
It looks like you are traveling Sognefjellet down to Kaupanger and continue on the Fjord2 car-ferry to Gudvangen.
The express boat Balestrand-Flåm will cover around ¼ of Kaupanger-Gudvangen with more than double speed.
