Has anyone rented a car in Sogndal? Is their easy access to car rental office from the bus station and how about flying out of Sogndal airport to either Bergen or Oslo?
Would like to drive to Hellsylt and see Gierangerfjord and return. Any recommendation?

Bit of a mystery why you are going to Sogndal. It isn't a popular location which is why you're probably not receiving many replies. So sorry! Consider offering a bit more information or ask the same question on a TripAdvisor forum where there are a lot of Norwegian locals who respond.

It looks pretty easy on Google Maps, just a 5-10 minute walk between the Sogndal bus station and either Hertz or Sixt offices (in different directions). Google also shows a Sixt office at the airport for the return but does not mention Hertz, so check with them.

I have been looking to rent in the same area especially since I found the ferry that goes from Gudvangen to Kaupanger (close to Sogndal). I have been trying to price out a rental with Sixt but cannot get any result. May go with Hertz since they have a rental car place in Kaupanger itself.
Please post what you decide on and what rental you end up with.

Hertz have a location in Sogndal too, Amfi Sogningen (shopping mall).
