Sleeping in Oslo

My husband and I will be travelling to Oslo in Late June 2026. Do you have any recommendations for sleeping? We will not have a car- we will be walking or transit.

We were in Norway in 2023. We stayed at the Thon Hotel Opera next to the train station. Perfect location,l for both walking or taking the tram. The room was quiet and comfortable and the staff was welcoming.

In 2019 we stayed at the Thon Hotel Rosenkrantz. Wonderful location, great staff and fantastic breakfasts. I realize it’s been a few years but the recent reviews are very good. We would definitely return.

This past summer we stayed at 3 Thon Hotels, Oslo, Bergen and Trondheim. All were excellent and good value for Norway.

In March, 2024, my son and I stayed at both the Thon Hotel Astoria and the Radisson Blu Plaza, both very convenient to the train station. They were both just fine, with the Radisson Blu being nicer (and probably more expensive). There were any number of hotels I looked at that I am sure would have also been fine.

In August 2024 my daughter and I stayed at the Thon Hotel Astoria on both the front end and back end of a trip. We also stayed there 10 years ago.

We were just there and stayed at Hotel Cristiana Teater and thought it was perfect location. Walkable to everywhere, near tram stops. Great breakfast

Hi - We stayed at the Hotel Bastion in Oslo. Probably not the fanciest place but it worked for us. The hotel had a great breakfast. And they provided a dinner every night, buffet style. We were able to walk to the train station and the Opera House in 10-12 minutes. A bus stop wasn't that far away either. Maybe a 5-8 minute walk depending on how fast you walk and the street light crossing.

In May we stayed at the Thon Hotel Cecil, which is right downtown in walking distance to the waterfront, museums, Parliament. Our room was a good size with fully enclosed shower (no water leaking onto the floor!), large, comfortable bed, in-room coffee. The breakfast alone is worth the stay. Absolutely everything imaginable - breads, yogurts, cold cuts, cheeses, vegetables, hot egg dishes, fresh fruit, fresh juices, all fresh and delicious. Enjoy!

We stayed at the Hotel Continental. Pricey, but superb in every respect. Worth every penny. The breakfast buffet was among the best I have seen in Europe. Make sure you sign up for Leaders Club to get the room discount.

We have stayed at The Grand in Oslo and it was lovely although it is pricey but we felt it was worth it. It is located diagonally from the parliment building. Very nice location we felt as we also did not have a car. We were easily able to walk to site, restaurants, and transit to other things. Also this hotel had A/C in the room which was a huge plus for us and something not commonly found in hotels in Scandinavian countries or much of Europe.
