Second half of Nutshell Tour to Bergen or Ferry down the Sognefjord?

Hello,

Two adults will be traveling from Oslo to Bergen, by way of Flam. We are spending three nights in Flam, taking a ferry tour of the Naeroyfjord during one of those days. We need a recommendation for the second half of the "Nutshell" trip: should we take a ferry ride from Flam to Bergen down the Sognefjord OR continue the "Nutshell" trip for the Gudvangen fjord (which we would have already essentially done already during our time in Flam), the bus to Voss, and then the train to Bergen from there? We're thinking the fjord ferry would be more beautiful and scenic, but we don't want to miss out on a must-see by going over land. Thanks for your help and advice!

We did the ferry, bus, train route out of flam and loved it. The bus ride is a trip in itself (unless you’re afraid of heights). The bus is timed to meet the ferry and there were no issues catching the train.

I believe there's a bus connecting Flam and Gudvangen you could use instead of repeating the scenic, but costly, Naeroyfjord ferry.

I agree that the Bus 950 route from Gudvangen up to Voss is very scenic.

I haven't taken the ferry between Gudvangen and Bergen, so I can't comment on what you gain by doing that. I have read that much of the trip is like being on a lake, because the Sognefjord is quite wide, so it doesn't have the sort of dramatic scenery you get in the Naeroyfjord..
