Hello all,
Thinking about going to runde island to check out the puffins. My question is, can I drive all the way to the top of the cliff or would I need to hike up there? And if so, how long would the hike be because I will be taking two senior citizens with me. Thank you all in advance.

The road that interconnects the islands only runs along the shoulders and has no significant elevation gain anywhere.
You can see the puffins without climbing if they're around, but they're not always. Kittiwakes seem to be.
You're not allowed to walk on parts of the island during breeding/nesting season anyway.

Thanks for the speedy reply. What are my chances of seeing puffins in mid august?
Would you recommend a boat tour or just walking to the bird cliff will suffice?

I had an easy walk to where they were supposed to be but it was out if season or something. It would have been well into the fall, I think.
