We are participating in RS 4 September 2023 tour. The tour concludes in Bergen and i would like to take the 5.5 hour train ride back to Oslo to fly home. I can not make the train reservation until i have figured out how long i should spend in Bergen after the tour ends. Does anyone have suggestions of what to do in Bergen not covered in RS tour?
What are you interested in? What do you want to see and do?
I guess the other question is what is already included in the RS tour when you are in Bergen.
The train journey to Oslo, which is fabulous, usually takes 6.5-7 hours. Plan on spending your whole day on the train, and staying overnight in Oslo before your flight home. In Bergen, if you like classical music, a trip to Troldhaugen to see the Grieg House is worthwhile. You can take a tram and then walk abut 20 minutes to the house. Plan to go in the morning so that you can also attend the lunchtime piano concert, which is usually at 11:30 am and lasts about half an hour. If it's not on the RS tour, the Fløibanen (funicular} is a great trip to a mountain view--if it's not cloudy or raining. Or visit the Fantoft Stave Church, which is a reconstruction of the original church which burned down in 1992. It is also near the Bergen tram line. Happy travels.
Take a short fjord cruise and take the cable car up the mountain both are very scenic.
Thank you Claudia of La La Land, Badger of Sweden, Kim in Paris, Thos in Seattle for your helpful suggestions of what to do in Bergen when the tour is over. I am interested in the Edvard Grieg home and concert, the
KODE art museum, Fantoft Stave Church. The Florence funicular ride is included in the tour. Your response helped me realize I need an extra day in Bergen . Thank you
