Route 55 usually opens sometime in May. That is not a guarantee that the route will stay open until its usual closure time in November. Last August, the Bergen rail line from Oslo to Bergen and several roads (including a portion of the Norway-in-a-Nutshell route) were closed for a few days due to the weather. No one expects this in August — but it can happen.
