Renting large vehicles/Car rental in Gudvangen

Good afternoon,
I have two questions. Is it hard to rent a vehicle that seats at least six people in Norway? Also are there car rentals in Gudvangen?

Thank you! Follow-up questions...is it fairly expensive to rent a vehicle that size?

When we did Norway in a Nutshell in 2019, booking all the segments independently instead of as a package through a tour company, we took it from Oslo to Voss. The last part of it was the bus from Gudvangen to Voss. There is a Hertz rental car facility in Voss. It's actually a little before you get to Voss. On the advice of the Hertz proprietor, we had the bus let us off at Skulestadmo. I was a little worried that the driver might say no, this bus is going to Voss, we don't let people off on the way. But that didn't happen. He was happy to let us off at this stop a little before Voss. The Hertz facility was just a five minute or so walk. We picked up our reserved car and drove up to Balestrand for a two night stay. It took perhaps 2 hours to get up there. After our couple of nights in Balestrand, we drove the car to Bergen, using a route that didn't re-trace the one from two days prior. Our car was a mini van that held 6. It was very easy to work with the Hertz facility. At first I emailed. I called once, and the proprietor spoke perfect English.

The expensive part of our car rental wasn’t the base price. It was the one way fee to pick up in Voss and return in Bergen. But as we were splitting the cost among three couples, it was do-able.

I have zero experience renting cars in Europe, but on several occasions European posters here have said the cost to rent a large vehicle will be perhaps triple the cost of renting a regular car. Those comments predated COVID, and car-rental costs have skyrocketed almost everywhere. It's quite possible the cost of renting what we in the US call a "van" is not currently triple the now-astronomical cost of renting as passenger car. Still, I fear the cost would be very high. And of course the gas expense would not be minor.

I'd suggest checking with AutoEurope, Kemwel and Gemut (consolidators that work with multiple rental companies) to see what you can find. Maybe the picture is not as grim as I suspect it will be.

I'm not up to date with the price of rental cars in Norway I'm afraid. But I assume the price can easily be found online.
