Plan to take ferry to Kaupanger and would like to rent a car to go to Alesund area for a few days then return the car and spend the night in Balestrand and take the morning boat to Bergen.
Wondering about making connections from rental car return in Kaupanger and catching the bus to Sogndal then to Balestrand.
Any help would be appreciated. Oh I plan to go in June of this year.

Is there a drop off fee if you pick up the car in Kaupanger and drop it off in Sogndal? If not, do that. You can then take the fast ferry to Balestrand.
I am planning on renting with Hertz - pick up in Kaupanger and drop off in Leikanger from where I'll take a different ferry to Flam as I haven't been able to get a price from Sixt.

From Kaupanger Shell to Sogndal skysstasjon, choose among 14-101, 14-103, 14-151, 14-152, 23-526, NX170, NX450.
From Sogndal skysstasjon til Balestrand kai, choose one of 23-516, 23-501 (boat).

What's the fast ferry to Balestrand? Seems to me the ferry from Sogndal only leaves early morning.
