Hello, I will be in Norway - Oslo, Bergen and north (Troms0 or Alta) next week - July 8-14. The weather forecast as far as I can see shows thunder and rains pretty much every day, in most locations. Being a hardy traveler, I generally ignore the weather forecast, and work around the weather if it does rain. My question is if rains could be a big problem - as in a complete wash out for the entire day, or is it short and sweet. Thanks for your input.
Any forecast more than 5 days forward is a guess.
I use the yr.no forecast. Eg. http://www.yr.no/place/Norway/Oslo/Oslo/Oslo/
Past Thursday 25/6 reported 8.9 mm of precipitation in Oslo. That would have been a better museum day rather than a Oslomarka hiking day.
I've been in Norway for two weeks now and I would compare the weather we've been having to what we've experienced in England. Sunny days followed by rain and drizzle followed by partly cloudy, then sun, then more rain! No days of steady rain that kept us completely inside although I can't promise that won't happen...weather is weather after all and we travelers are sometimes at its mercy! We had a few days in Oslo at the beginning and the only place the rain prevented us from seeing was the fortress overlooking the harbor. We were able to see everything else we wanted to including Frogner Park, the Viking Ship Museum, and the Folk Museum. We even walked around on the roof of the Opera House in the rain. Just come prepared with the right shoes and waterproof jackets and press on! It won't be a wash out. :)
