I am puzzl.ing over doing the NIN R/T Bergen or in Flam. Our itinerary is as follows.
Day 1 Arrive Bergen 5PM
Day 2 NIN?
Day 3 Board ship late morning -
Day 4 Take a shore excursion, leave Bergen 6PM
Day 5 FLAM - the only part we would miss on this tour is the Naeroyford.

In July of 2017, I "planned" a trip to Iceland, Norway and Sweden. The Norway portion was poorly planned and, if I were to do it again, I would rethink it. We arrived in Oslo from KEF and stayed two nights. On the third day, we took the train from Oslo to Bergen. On the fourth day, we did the fabled "Norway In A Nutshell" - beginning and ending in Bergen. Here's how that experience works.....train-bus-boat-scenic train-train. What we discovered, especially during the "boat" portion of NIN, there are to be a number of small village stops that looked inviting. However, as we were duty bound to return to Bergen in order to catch a flight to Stockholm the next morning, we were forced to pass them up. I blame myself for doing such a poor job. If I were to do it again, I would investigate the villages along the "boat portion" of NIN. My wife would have liked it if we had stayed longer in Bergen, and I would have liked more days in Oslo. In fact - I would like more days in Norway.
