My husband and I hope to plan to trip to Norway in September. We will be in the Bergen area and I was hoping to be able to see the site of my ancestral farm in the village of Olve which is about an hour south of Bergen. We will not have access to car and I was hoping to be able to hire a driver and tour guide to take us for the day to the Olve area. Can anyone recommend a private driver?

If you don't get responses, and I see the RS book doesn't have tour/drivers recommended, perhaps consider contacting your hotel? I will be doing the Nutshell in June and have been in touch with hotels to get some ideas for transport!

You could contact Mal Dickson - Guiding in Norway (facebook page). I don't know him in person, but he was very helpful in answering questions I had about Norway. He has a large following, and his photography is wonderful!

I have found these names of private drivers in the Bergen area but don't have any personal recommendations for any of them. If anyone has used any of these drivers please let me know your experience with them:
- Bergen Driver Guide: their guide, Romain, is an authorized, English-speaking local who has lived in Norway for 17 years and can create tailor-made trips based on your interests.
- Fjordrive AS: can tailor the trip to your wishes and have highly experienced, qualified chauffeurs who know Western Norway well.
- Åkrafjorden Oppleving: Offers car rental with a personal driver who is also your guide. They can customize your itinerary in Fjord Norway, picking you up from your accommodation and taking you to key attractions.
- Tenon Tours/MyChauffeur: These companies offer private driver tours as part of a luxury, flexible vacation experience in Norway. Their professional chauffeurs can provide local insights and take you to "secret spots".

Just finished booking a 4 week trip to Norway. I found Emma, thehiddennorth.com, to be an extremely valuable source of information. She also has a separate company, IloveBergen.com that does tours of Bergen. If she can’t help you herself, she may be able to recommend a driver for you.
