Hello,
My 84 yr old mom and I will be going on a Scandinavian road trip in July from Toronto and Oslo is one of the stops. We will be staying close to Grand Central station driving from Oslo ferry terminal (Go Nordic Cruise) and staying for 2 nights. From my reading I see that the nearest parking is Oslo S P-Hus (although the cost is insane). Can someone please guide me if it challenging to navigate the traffic in Oslo and any tips on parking. Are in- and out-privileges available with overnight parking at the P-Hus parking? Any guidance will be very much appreciated.
Honestly, I would suggest finding a place to park your car for your entire stay in Oslo. Public transportation is excellent and trying to drive around and park is going to be difficult.
My suggestion is to park the car near the ferry terminal, taxi or Uber to your hotel, and then pick it up when you are ready to leave Oslo.
Thank you, Frank II for your response with the suggestion. Just another follow up question. I understand that in Oslo parking garages have automatic license plate readers. Since my rental car will be from Stockholm, would these readers also be able to read Swedish license plate?
Norway and Sweden have a common toll system: https://www.epass24.com/
By reading the details some of your questions will be answered.
Oslo is like some other Norwegians towns a car-unfriendly city. They punish cars and drivers in nearly every way they can. My experience with driving in Oslo is too old for a reasonable recommendation.

Road parking is extremely expensive, see map overview:
