Park phone number at Google

Hi,

"My" phone number is parked at Google. I can change service providers who provide me with a different phone number and forward my calls through Google to "my" number.

If I buy SIM card for Norway how do I activate it? Who's my service provider in Norway? Can I use the Google forwarding service with the phone number supplied by my Norwegian service provider?

If you are taking about Google Voice, the last time I checked, calls could not be forwarded to a non-US number.

A follow-up: Google Voice will, however, send a text message or email, or both, to let you know of any missed calls and voicemail messages, and will try to send a written transcription of messages. Not sure if the text message will go to a non-US number, but if you can get emails through your Norwegian phone, you could still have some form of communication. With a data connection, you may use Google Voice to make lower cost international calls (usually for just pennies a minute).

So if I buy a Telenor prepaid SIM card my phone will be assigned a different number but otherwise work normally?

Yes, if you buy a Norwegian SIM card it comes with a Norwegian number. Same applies to SIM cards bought in any country.
Your service provider will be whoever you buy the card from.
