Oslo to Stockholm by Bus=what to watch for?

OK, bit of a weird question here. On an organized tour, we will have a day's travel by motor coach from Oslo to Stockholm with a stop in Karlstad. Nit ideal, but this may be our best opportunity to view the countryside. so I am wondering if there are any specific things we maybe able to view from the bus and keep awake for? thank you in advance.

My first reaction is that it's a long and not that interesting trip by coach, take the train instead. But if it's an organized tour, it might not be an option. Is it an overnight stop in Karlstad or just a lunch break? Also do you know which route you will take, north or south of Mälaren?

But in general, the views will be forests, fields and lakes and nothing really spectacular. But if you want something to look at, when you cross the border you will see some major shopping centres that all rely on border shopping. Otherwise the views from the border to Karlstad will be mostly forest and lakes. Just before Grums you'll pass over a small bay of Vänern, Sweden's largest lake and one of the largest lakes in Europe. From Karlstad to Kristinehamn the landscape is more agricultural with a bit more to look at. Just after Karlstad the motorway passes Alster, where the poet Gustaf Fröding was born and grew up. Roughly halfway to Kristinehamn on the right you'll see Ölme church which is quite cute on a small hill overlooking the fields. After Kristinehamn it gets hillier but it's mostly forest until the road passes through Karlskoga allowing you to see a bit of that town, although hardly the nicest parts. And if you have any military experience you probably know Karlskoga as the home of weapons manufacturer Bofors.

After Karlskoga the forest continues but becomes rather nice looking with a lot of smaller lakes and marshes. About halfway to Örebro the landscape turns agricultural again and continues that way until roughly halfway to Arboga when the forest returns. Just before Arboga you cross the river Arbogaån, and a bit later you'll see a small rest stop on the left with a petrol station and some restaurants where I had a very disappointing supper last year. After Arboga you have two choices if you want to drive to Stockholm, E18 north of Mälaren or E20 south of Mälaren.

(Also, this might have been better suited for the Sweden forum.)
