Is it necessary or recommended to book train reservations in advance (via internet) from Oslo to Myrdal and Myrdal to Flam? What about the boat from Flam to Balestrand? I'm going on May 29. I'm a novice travelling Europe. Can you give me a link to book the travel?
Bill
Booking the train to Flåm in advance will save you a bit of money. Book at www.vy.no and nowhere else. The ferry costs 320 kr no matter when you buy the ticket.
Thanks, I booked the trains. I assume I can buy the boat ticket from Flam to Balestrand at the dock in Flam?
I don't know whether there's a risk of a full express boat. May 29 seems rather early. Here's the website for buying the express boat ticket in advance: https://booking.norled.no/
Thank you so much for your help. I'm travelling alone and did not want to risk being stranded in Flam. There was only 1 boat for that day and I'm on it!! (maybe other companies offer that trip).
happy traveler,

There's no risk that time of year of the hurtigbåt being sold out but good that you bought a ticket in advance (the Norled website does recommend doing so). Peace of mind, and all that.
