Hi, heading to Oslo for 3 days at the end of September and wondering if we buy the Oslo pass we can just walk into museums without a reservation? Has anyone here had good or bad experiences with the Oslo pass? thanks!
I did not buy the Oslo Pass. It didn't work out as a savings for me - I would advise doing the math.
July 2023, we had no problem entering any of Oslo's major (and a couple minor) museums and venues without advance reservation. Even at the Munch Museum where our visit happened to coincide with free entry hours (didn't plan that pleasant surprise in advance), there was no problem.
We had the same experience as ORDTraveler. In July 2023 we were able to get in to any of the museums upon arrival. In fact, the only thing we prebooked was a biking tour of Oslo. Enjoy your visit!
Yes, you do not need a timed entry. The Oslo Pass works well. We found it quite useful and probably got half its value just from public transportation. Highly recommend and it was pretty much accepted everywhere.
Hi - I just came back from almost 3 weeks in Norway. The Oslo pass is so worth it. We were able to cris-cross the city on the buses. We had no problems walking into the National Museum (Art) and the Nobel Peace Center at any time. We did not see the Munch Museum. The National Museum has an original copy of the Scream by Mr. Munch so we decided we got the best of both worlds exploring other Norwegian art at the same time. We also used the Oslo pass to visit the Folk Museum. That was interesting. We took an English led tour which provided information we would not have gotten otherwise on the buildings and living in them. The Gol Stave church is also there. As others recommend, do the math. But we figured all we saw in 48 hours plus the transportation was worth it. Enjoy!
We also had Oslo Pass and thought it was well worth it. The only museum for us with a timed pass was Munch. You go there, show them your pass and you get a timed ticket.
