My wife and I are planning a trip to Norway this coming June and are thinking of staying in Ortnevik for several days. We plan on hiking in the area and maybe a day trip by ferry to the Balestrand area. We’d appreciate hearing from others about things to do in the Ortnevik area and whether a day trip Balestrand makes any sense. We’ll have a car. Thanks very much.

Makes more sense to explore the area by car, e. g. Gaularfjellet.
Ferry to Vangsnes can bring you to another interesting fjell along route 13 which you can ue to reach Gudvangen for Naeroyfjord boat tour. Do not miss Hopperstad stave church.
Tip: ensure that your car has full insurance. Some narrow streets with might falling objects.
