We have been trying to find a car company in Norway that doesn’t charge over $1000 for a one way drop off Bergen to Aalesund. Anybody’s suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, you pretty much have to suck it up. I hate to say that, but it happened to me too, or it will happen. I booked a one-way rental from Oslo to Alesund, and the fee for the one-way drop off is more than the fee for the three days I have the car. So basically, you either have to pay it, or see if it's easier and more financially feasible to drive back to Bergen and return it.
Is Bergen your origin? Is that where you're flying into? You know that you can fly from Bergen to Alesund if you want. That's what I'm doing on the return.

When I looked into renting a car one-way to get from Bergen to Aalesund, I ran into the same very pricey one-way dropoff charge.
The workaround is simply to fly from Bergen to Aalesund ( flights were about $100 on Wideroe Air) and pick up the rental car in Aalesund.
