Hi all!
My friends and I are planning a hiking trip departing from Oslo in late May (18–25) and have a few questions before we go:
🚗 Driving & Road Conditions
We've heard May can bring snowy roads in Norway — is this still true for late May?
Is this route relatively easy to drive, or should we expect challenges with weather and mountain roads?
Should we rent an electric or gas car? We want to make sure we won't get stranded.
🥾 Hiking Recommendations
Does anyone know of good hikes along this route that won't be heavily snow-covered in late May?
Open to Route Suggestions
If anyone knows of a better route for this time of year given our timeframe, we're open to alternatives!
Route:
- 18th: depart from Oslo to Myrland and hike in Hallingskarvet nasjonalpark
- 19th: drive Myrland to Flam in the morning and hike
- 20th: flam hike and/pr drive to Myrdal and hike/explore
- 21st: drive to Rosendal and hike in Folgefonna nasjonalpark
- 22nd: Folgefonna nasjonalpark
- 23rd: drive to Rosendal and hike there
- 24th: give recommendations for the way back if you can!
- 25th: Drive back to Oslo
Thanks everyone!
