Norway in Nutshell wayfinding

We are going from Bergen to Oslo in July on NIN. The website for NIN is not clear how one gets from one mode to another. Since travelers can customize the trip, staying in one location rather than going all the way to Oslo in the same day, how does one know where to go at each stop? We will have rolling bags (under seat size), and are no longer spring chickens, so we are worried we will miss getting where we need to be. Thanks for any insight.

MaryL.....the good news is you would have to work hard to get lost. They have made everything easy.

Bergen to Voss: When you exit the Voss train station, turn right and you will see the bus to Gudvangen.

At Gudvangen, you get off the bus and will see the ferry right in front of you. If the boat isn't there, you will see the ferry dock.

Ferry from Gudvangen to Flam: At Flam, when you exit the ferry, the train station is about 100 feet away in front of you.

From Flam to Myrdahl, you take the Flymbassa train.(It's the only train that operates on that line.)

At Myrdahl, there is only one platform and the train to Oslo will either be there or arriving soon. There will be people there to help you.

You will find that there will be many people doing the same thing you are doing especially in July.

Some people break the trip up into two days by staying in Flam. Others take yet another ferry to a different town and then return the next day to continue the journey.

I stayed at the Fretheim hotel in Flam which is visible from both the ferry dock and the train station. Porbably a two minute walk. They also have a great buffett dinner. But for this July they may already be booked.

My observation last July - there will be crowds heading toward the next transport leg, just as Frank wrote. Quite easy. Enjoy your trip!
