NIN vs SIN fjord trip?

One day trip to and from Bergen, not sure which fjord cruise to take. One friend loved the "Sognefjord in a Nutshell" (SIN) trip, but another thought 5.5 hours on the boat was too long & it misses the Naeroyfjord (UNESCO heritage) fjord. Another says that the "Norway in a Nutshell" (NIN) spends 2.5 hours on the boat & too much time on trains & bus, yet you see scenery from the train & bus, (and a friend was worried about being in a bus on windy rain-slicked roads).
Rick Steves page doesn't help to clarify: he says " Sognefjord, Norway's longest (120 miles) and deepest (more than a mile), is tops." But then says "For the best one-day look at fjords, follow the Nutshell's series of well-organized train, ferry, and bus connections that puts this beautiful fjord country spread-eagle on a scenic platter. "

Which is it SIN or NIN? And which might be better in the rain?

Consensus around here is that the western half of the Bergen-Sognefjord express ferry route, where the fjord is wider, is not as spectacular as the portion that you see from the NIN, although it does make a change from taking the same train route both ways. If you want quality over quantity of boat-riding time, then I think NIN is the winner, and has always been Rick's focus. The SIN route only runs May-September, as you probably saw.
