Hi, I'm thinking to go from Bergen to Gudvangen, overnight there and take the fjord tour from Gudvangen to Flam the next morning. A few questions (tia). Does the general plan make sense? Am I correct that there is no ferry from Bergen to Gudvangen -- I would need to take a train and then a bus? Is the Viking Village in walking distance of 'downtown' Gudvangen? Thank you for suggestions.

Thanks for your help to date. The information was very useful. I am still struggling a bit trying to figure out the bus schedule from Gudvangen to Voss, particularly because it is a Sunday. From the timetables I'm able to find it looks like options are 1:46 p.m.; 4:17 pm.; 4:47 p.m. and 5:25 p.m. Am I correct? And it appears we walk 8 minutes from the ferry to stop E16 and we board there. Am I correct in all of that? Here's the schedule I'm looking at. Thanks so much!!!

There are also through long distance (not Skyss) buses from Bergen to Gudvangen E16 at 0830, 0910 and 1520 daily, run by Norway BusEkspressen.
In the other direction at 0945, 1528 and 1625.
They also call at Voss if sticking slavishly to the conventional Norway in a Nutshell itinerary, of train to Voss.
