Hi everyone - has anyone out there tried the Lustrabaatane ferry from Flam to Gudvangen? It's cheaper, but appears to be smaller and on a bit faster schedule than the Fjord tour boat. Just trying to decide.
Not a reply Lisa but more of a chuckle - each time I see your posts I think to myself, "did I ask that question?" :-) Safe and happy travels! Lisa
Both boats go the same way, so there's no better route or anything. The 'Vision of the Fjords' boat is an award-winning ship and is quite an experience on its own. https://www.visitflam.com/en/se-og-gjore1/aktiviteter/fjordcruise-pa-naroyfjorden-2016/
We took the Lustrabaatane ferry. Pluses: Not crowded, we were the only passengers on a random day in July. Friendly crew. Minuses: It's an older ship, so noisy, and the views from inside are not the greatest (due to the window frames, and the dirty windows). We enjoyed the ride, but didn't feel like doing the return trip. We took the 20-minute bus back.
