Morning options in Balestrand

We are following Rick's advice to stop over an extra night in Balestrand as part of our Norway in a Nutshell tour. The day after we arrive, we are booked on the fjord cruise from Balestrand leaving 11:15 (and that tour and other stuff through Fjord Tours basically takes up that whole day). Rick's advice in the book is try to catch an early morning boat to Vik to see the stave church there and return back just in time for the 11:15 departure (which was my original plan, but now the departure of the Vik ferry has changed so basically you can't do that option any longer I believe). Unless anyone knows of any other boats leaving Balestrand early enough to go do/see something and get back before 11:15. So just thought I would see if anyone had any suggestions, or maybe some nearby hikes that are doable right out of Balestrand that could be finished to be able to be back in time for the 11:15am boat trip? Thanks for any advice

This isn’t a hike but unless you’re already staying at the Kviknes hotel it’s worth at least a 1/2 hour look into that grand establishment. And the English church, built by Mrs Kviknes, is also lovely to look inside and out. We walked to the Ciderhuset and had a cider tasting but you won’t have time for that. Pretty sure it doesn’t open till noon.

But a walk out along the road that parallels the coast there (as one would head out to go to Ciderhuset) is nice to see the architecture of the houses, the fjord, the apple orchards ...

Also you could see if the guy who runs the RIB boat tours has a quick one that leBes early and gets back before you need to leave.

(There are some hikes that leave from back up behind a school above Balestrand but I think they would take longer than you have.)
