Lofoten islands and northern Norway, south to north?

Is there any reason not to start in the south and travel north, terminating in Tromso? Most folks seem to go the other direction, but the travel/transit looks simpler for us if we start in the south.

It depends very much on what you're looking for and what time of the year. But in general, no. However, for an autumn trip you really want to start in the north.

If you want to travel the part Tromsø - Lofoten by Hurtigruten / Havila I recommend this part North to South because you will see very nice parts of coast line in daylight (Raftsund, Trollfjord).

Photographer view: If you travel by car driving South to North gives a little brighter views just because of the sun stand around noon.
