Hi all. I am coordinating our 3 generation girls trip to Denmark (Copenhagen) and Norway for June 2026. Me, my daughter (18 by travel date), my sister and our 80 yr old mom. I underestimated how far in advance I should book lodging and am now realizing many places in Oslo city center are booked. I was hoping to get a Thon hotel the city center ones are full. But I’ve looked at several others also finding no rooms (I’m looking at hotel websites, not 3rd party sites). Does anyone have experience with handling this issue? Should I reach out to hotels via email or is that a waste of everyone’s time? Should we consider Airb&b? Or maybe a B&B? Should I change the trip so we arrive in Norway around June 7 and leave from Copenhagen instead of the reverse? My mom cannot do stairs very well and it would be helpful to find a room on a ground floor or with an elevator. We’ll be arriving in Oslo after overnight ferry from Copenhagen. Dates are not firm but likely around 10-12 June, +/- 3 days. Planning on walking/using public transit. Staying in Oslo one or two days prior to NIN adventure. Depart from Bergen. Thx for your help.
Not sure what the issue might be. But when I searched Thon website just now for 2 rooms, 2 adults in each room, arriving June 10 departing June 13 I found available in 15 of their 16 Oslo hotels. We found it easy to get around with the bus/tram system and Uber works well too. We stayed at Christiana Theater Hotel two summers ago, very nice, near Central and great breakfast. I could recommend for a girls trip definitely.
I assume you are looking for 2 rooms.
I see availability for June 10-12 on the Thon site for several Oslo city locations including the Astoria, the Terminus and the Rosenkrantz.
Perhaps it’s because I’ve only been looking for a 2-night stay? And there are 4 of us. So we would need two twin rooms or similar configuration. Guess I just need to understand the geography better.
