Lodging for a Family of 4 in Oslo & Bergen

Hello! My family will be traveling to Norway in August and I'm finding that for most hotels it is difficult finding a room that has 2 beds. We have a 13yr old & 9yr old so was concerned a pullout couch for them might not be big enough. I'm curious if people have typically booked 2 rooms when traveling as a family of 4? Or do you have any recommended places you have stayed in either Oslo or Bergen (we will be in each for 3 nights)? I've looked on VRBO but didn't see reviews so if you have stayed somewhere that you enjoyed and would recommend, would love your recommendation as we continue our search. I have always appreciated the advise I have received on the Travel Forum. Thanks so much! Marla

You might try looking at booking.com for some initial research. If you specify lodging for 4 people, it will include family rooms (if it has any such rooms still available for your dates) as well as places with two double or twin rooms available. Booking.com also has apartment listings. If you find good possibilities there, it's worth comparing rates on the hotels' own websites; they may well be cheaper.

Be very careful about cancellation policies. It's very common to see non-refundable rates listed first.

One of the Thon hotels in Oslo that we stayed at had rooms for four people. There was a regular bed, and then two bunk beds up against the wall. In Bergen, we stayed at the Thon Hotel Orion which also had rooms for four. On both of those stays, our college age son was with us and those were the rooms that we had. They were both great locations, etc.

For what it's worth, we found ample apartment listings in Oslo on AirBnB, many of which have two or more beds. As we're only staying one night in Bergen before flying out, we opted for a hotel there.
