Local transportation in Hamar for Sunday 8/27

Hello, I'll be travelling with a group of 8 on Sunday 8/27. We plan to take the train to Hamar and want to see the area, and a visit with distant cousins. Then on to Trondheim by train on Monday or Tuesday. Our cousins suggested we rent 2 cars in Hamar. They don't have personal transportation for this many of us.

The problem is the Hamar rental company is closed on Sunday. The option to rent in Oslo and drive to Hamar is time-consuming and very costly. Does anyone have ideas? Any private transportation available for small groups in that Hamar/Lillehamer area?

The drive time from Oslo Central train station looks like 1.5 hours. What's the costly part? Is that a price difference to drop the car in Hamar instead of returning it to Oslo? It's typical for small-town car rental offices to be closed Sundays in Europe and I see that those in Hamar are also closed Saturdays. So I guess your choices are to move the plan to Monday (but your cousins probably have to work), or do the extra driving, or pay the one-way drop charge.

Thanks for the reply Laura. We were looking for local transportation and didn't know the car rental companies would be closed on the weekends. So now looking into others - taxis, etc. and thanks for the links, will be checking those too.
