I had heard that it was recommended to book the Kaupanger-Gudvangen car ferry in advance, but then read somewhere else that at the time of year we'll be there (late September) it might not be necessary. I'd love to use our Fjord Pass to get a discount, but the discount doesn't cover ferries booked ahead of time. Since there are only a couple of ferries a day - and we'd want the first one for sure - I'm wondering if we should just suck it up and book ahead? What would you do?
