Itinerary to include Norway

Hi all. Attempting to include Norway into my trip. I’m not quite sure if it is worth the travel time I have to spend to visit. I initially was going to go to Ystad in the Skane region instead to shorten the driving.

Day 1: Arrive at noon in Copenhagen from Canada. Drive from Copenhagen airport to Vaxjo, Sweden. (Overnight in Vaxjo)
Day 2: Vaxjo - all day - attending hockey game (overnight again in Vaxjo)
Day 3: Early morning drive to just outside Oslo, perhaps Kolbotn area. Please suggest a convenient location to take the train into Oslo open to staying in any area close to Oslo (overnight in Kolbotn area)
Day 4: Spend the day in Oslo take train into the city (overnight in Kolbotn area)
Day 5: Early morning drive to Copenhagen. Watch football match in Copenhagen
Day 6: Spend day in Copenhagen
Day 7: Spend day in Copenhagen
Day 8: Flight around noon out of Copenhagen airport

In total is about 15 hours of driving. I do enjoy driving, however I am looking for some advice.

I can't imagine flying all night from Canada to Copenhagen, clearing Immigration, getting to a car-rental agency and then driving for more than 3 hours. Are you sure you'll be able to sleep well on the plane and be safe to do that?

I like Oslo, but that's a great deal of extra driving you'd be committing to. Ystad and Lund are both good options.

You might do better with just trains on this trip. I believe it costs quite a lot of money to take a car across the bridge between Denmark and Sweden.

Others here are a lot more knowledgeable about that area than I am, so let's see what they say.

I can tell you that Vaxjo has a nice emigration museum and a co-located museum of glass--in case you have some extra time there.

When Will this journey happen?

It seems you still underestimate distances and travel times there, e. g. D5. btw: there is a night ferry (DFDS).

Do you have specfic interests?

Attempting to include Norway into my trip.

What is your wish behind this? A checkmark behind Norway in country visits? Or a specific experience in Oslo? Or other?

These 15 hours will be more or less somehow boring drive. I drove E6 up and down - also this part - a few times. Of course some interesting spots left and right but you would not have the time.

Ystad is one of the most visited places in Scandinavia in relation to its number of inhabitants. Of course ferry port and sailing boats play a role but most of all Mankell's Wallander. Skåne and South Sweden are beautiful and well visited vacation regions - a lot of Germans spend their time there. An article gives some tips for a road trip in beautiful Skåne and Blekinge.

Personally I like the combination of Swedish Helsingborg and Danish Helsingør with Kronborg Castle.
