Hurtigruten Excursions

My wife and I will be taking the Rick Steve’s Scandanavian trip starting June 24 2025 and we will be ending our Scandinavian trip with a 12 day Coastal Cruise with Hurtigruten. They have many excursions to choose from. Can anyone give us advice on some great choices, and any other suggestions on how we can enjoy this cruise. This will be our first trip to Scandinavia.

Thank you

We took the Hurtigruten northbound excursion and it was wonderful. When they stop at a port it can range from 15 minutes to a few hours. We walked around the various towns where we stopped, went to a museum if there was one. At the very end we went on our only excursion and really disliked it . Doing it on our own was far better for us. We have traveled the world extensively and avoid “tours.” We read and go to tourist offices before we decide how to spend our time is each town or village. When the ship arrives in a town, there will be a local tourism office nearby which is very helpful. We got a lot of help from these tourist offices.English is spoken widely.

How to recommend without knowing your interests and your mobility level?

Be aware at booking: MS Midnatsol will not sail into Geirangerfjord from 1 June to 28 August 2025. Instead, ship will remain moored in Ålesund from 09:45 to 20:00, as per the winter schedule.
