How quickly does the Night Train from Bergen to Oslo fill-up? I'm flexible on accommodations, but my wife must have a private (2 bunk) compartment with a wc/lav. (This falls under the heading: I’m happy when she's happy). Can this be booked on the DB site or should I go to a site in Norway for the booking?

You can call Rail Europe at 800-438-7245 or call Norwegian rail at 011-47-81-50-08-88 and then option 9 for English, during business hours. Last I checked, Rail Europe's web site was not offering the sleepers on this train and the Norwegian web site did not take US credit cards. Other train stations within Scandinavia can probably also book it, but not DB online.

I booked train minipris tickets Oslo S to Otta in advance using the nsb.no website using my US issued credit card (my Cap One Visa?) In 2012.. I picked up the tickets at the Oslo S station from the ticket machine by entering the ticket reference number and a phone number. If you don't have a phone, you just make up a phone number when you buy the tickets. We had open seating.
