I am beginning to plan a trip to Norway for spring 2018. I have ancestors who left a farm near Hovden and wondered whether it is worth a trip to Hovden to potentially meet distant cousins. I listened to Rick Steves' talk on Norway and he recommended connecting to distant cousins even if you just call people with the same last name! Has anyone had experience using a local guide for a family history tour of the area around Hovden? Am I right to think that a local guide is good way to start my search for distant cousins? I would appreciate any advice on finding "real" norwegian cousins.
