Hello, we will be in Bergen in July. We would appreciate any hotel recommendations, and reasons for recommending. We like clean places, a good breakfast would be nice (herring, vegetables, cheese- I have celiac disease) and we do not need a fancy place, but would like a central location, with many places being walkable. Thank you!
I stayed at the Clarion Hotel Admiral. Excellent location, decent rooms, nice breakfast. It's on the water and if it's nice you can have breakfast outside.
It's next to the fish market with lots of little restaurants and food stalls. The bus to the airport is a block away.
Take a look at Scandic, they are a good hotel chain if you are looking for clean good but not fancy hotel.
I stayed at the Thon Orion. Good location and walking distance to everything (except fjords :-),
and a short walk to the bus stop for the airport bus.
Breakfast was good and the rooms comfortable.
We stayed at the Grand Hotel Terminus which, as the name suggests, is around the corner from the train station, bus station and a tram stop. It's walking distance to Bryggen, the funicular to the Floyen Start and the port where the fjord tours and boats dock. Very large comfortable room, good breakfast and a vast whiskey bar.
