Hotel Suggestions Bergen

My husband has been searching for a hotel for early July for 3 nights in Bergen. I saw the Radisson has been mentioned. Any other suggestions? We enjoy smaller boutique places.
Thank you for input.

In August we. sstmead at the Thon Bristol Bergen Hotel and it was great. The Thon hotels are not small boutique places, but they are good. Where we stayed was very central and we had no complaints at all.

I have stayed at two places that I liked, but neither fit your preference for smaller boutique places.

I also stayed at the Thon Orion last year and had a good experience. The Thon Rosenkrantz was nice as well.

I stayed at the Clarion Hotel Admiral. Great location. You can opt to have breakfast right on the water.

Melanie, I have stayed at the Clarion Admiral that Frank mentions - it's nicely located — and superbly well located if you are catching the fast boat to Balestrand, Flåm, etc. It's also just a short walk to the Fish Msrket and one of the stops for the airport bus. Views across to the Bryggen from the dining room are wonderful.

I've also stayed at the Clarion Havnekontoret, which is on the Bryggen side, a little further down (but not quite as far as the Bergenhus Fortress and Hakonshall). It's cool because it is the old Harbor Controller's office building, and has a big clock tower that as a guest you can go up and visit and go outside on the balustrade and enjoy a wonderful view of the harbor and the city. It also has the originating stop for the airport bus right in front of the hotel, making it super easy to return to the airport. When I stayed, I had a package that included both breakfast and dinner. With meals being expensive in Norway, it wasn't cheap, but probably saved me a few bucks and saved me wandering around wondering where to eat, which sometimes on vacation is more valuable to me than eating at a specific place. I had lunch earlier at one of the restaurants in the fish market.

The distances we are talking about here down in the center of Bergen are negligible, and I will happily stay at either hotel again in the future. They each have their selling points, and I didn't find either of them to have any drawbacks.

In both cases I traveled as a solo traveler and had rooms on the courtyard side. Clean, small, fine, quiet. I wasn't looking for anything fancy there as my splurge hotel for these trips is up in Balestrand.
