Hiring driver or car rental in /near Flåm?

I too am interested if there is a car rental outfit in Flam. I did some searches and came up empty. I know there is one place in Balestrand and there are a few outfits around Sogndal (Hertz, Avis, Sixt).

i have booked my car through Hertz since I can pick one up in Kaupanger where the other ferry docks (close to Sogndal)

Thanks for the link and i had landed on that page when looking around but there is nothing about any car rental place unless I missed something.

Did anyone ever figure out about the car rental agency? That link indeed has no actual info about how or where to rent a car in Flam....

When we did the Norway in a Nutshell tour from Oslo, we rented a car from the end point in Voss. We then drove back to Aurland where we stayed overnight and toured the Sognefjord from there. I think either Voss or Sogndal (across the fjord) will be the closest rental office to Flåm.

I agree with Erica. I'm not sure there are any car rentals in Flam or nearby/larger Aurland. There might be some tours available that take the route on the Aurland Tourist Road. Keep looking. It is really beautiful!

One of the contact numbers in #6 (tripadvisor) is the same as in the link in #3 above. I don’t know if the company is still active.

The local newspaper wrote today that the municipality gave Benjamin Rock permission to drive passengers from Flåm/Aurland/Stegastein/Lærdal to Borgund stavkyrkje for a period of 10 years.

I've tried searching but can't find any that service that town.

But that sounds like a good option since we could put the car on the ferry from Gunvangen to Flam one way, and then drive back to Voss to catch the train on the return.

Thanks JZ - that car rental website for Flam looks legit! You can't book online, but I'm going to email a request and see what they have available for our dates. Hopefully it won't bounce back as an inactive address ; )

We rented the car from the Hertz Stavenes Bil Shell, Strandavegen 19, Voss. The current phone number is 56 52 14 10. I just checked the Google street view of the Shell station, and the Hertz sign is still up, so hopefully you can still rent from there.
