My family would like to leave Bergen, 2.August, and do the Norway in a Nutshell transportation, ending in Aurland for that night. I have booked accommodations separately. The next day we would like to head by boat to Flam and then on to Oslo for that evening (3.August) . I am having trouble booking on the N in a N site, breaking the trip in Aurland, and not adding one of their hotels into the package. Any thoughts?

You should book tickets from the transportation companies rather than a package from the NIN site.
Thank you!! I needed to hear this from someone--felt like I was missing something with all the "Norway in a Nutshell is easy" information out there. I found the site very difficult to use so I ended up just booking directly with a hotel on their site (because I received messages saying it was not available on the site). It appears I cannot book the Flamsbana train (one-way from Flam to Myr. )until we land in Norway?? This is causing some stress. Also, do you know if the bus from Voss to Gud. is easy to catch without a reservation? Thanks again for your help!!
The NIN site does not cover breaking the trip Aurland. This means a DIY trip.
Must be booked:
Regional train Myrdal – Oslo and if you choose so, regional train Bergen – Voss (mandatory seat reservation)
Can be booked and can sell out:
Boat Gudvangen – Aurland – Flåm and train Flåm – Myrdal.
No booking available:
Commuter train Bergen – Voss (ticket vending machine at the platform)
Bus Voss – Gudvangen (pay the driver)

“Fjordcruise Nærøyfjord” covers one way between two ports.
Between Aurland and Flåm it's also possible to travel by “FlåmExpress” or shuttle bus.
Train booking:

One way tickets on the Flåm railway in only available through nsb site up to 90 days before travel date.
Both 2nd and 3rd are heavy traffic days in Flåm area but the cruise ships leave 5:30 pm on the 3rd. I guess Flåm 4 pm, Myrdal 6 pm is your best choice.

I'm considering doing the same thing. When I was looking at the NIN site, if you choose the 2 day option, as you click through the booking process, you will come to the page with towns where you can book a hotel. Open up the window for Flam hotels and scroll through them, and at the bottom right is a box to choose and book your hotel on your own. It looks like there's a ferry that goes to Aurland.
Can you tell me if you found info on the times the bus runs from Voss to Gud? We can arrive Voss at 1:00 pm, there is a ferry at 2:30 and again a bit later but I can't find any info on the bus. Anything would help, thanks Gina
The bus from Voss-Gudvangen is the only thing I have not been able to book. From everything I've read it seems like it is no problem to catch one/pay driver on board???
Oh, haven't booked the boat/ferry yet. Has anyone had experience with the Fjordcruise Naero. from Gud.-Aurland? Thank you!
