We just booked a last minute trip to Bergen. Staying at the Radisson Blu and we want to see the best Fjord in the 4 days we will be there. I have read comments on many different fjords and would appreciate hearing good experiences and recommended companies to sign up for their services. We will definitely tour Bergen, ride the funicular, visit the fish market. Do you recommend a day trip via rail to Flam?
Thank you for your suggestions. Wendy
If you want to do the rail trip to Flåm, follow the Norway in a Nutshell route. You can DIY or purchase the package with FjordTours. It combines trains, bus and boat through the Naeyorfjord. It will be a very long day, but all very scenic.
Consider taking a walking tour in Bergen to learn about its Hanseatic past. We booked a 2 hour tour with I Love Bergen in 2023.
Do you recommend a day trip via rail to Flam?
Yes. Roundtrip via Gudvangen to Flåm and back via Myrdal.
Try to catch a day without cruise ships in Flåm port: https://www.flamport.no/arrival-list
Include the Gudvangen-Flam ferry and the Flamsbana train (Flam-Myrdal) in your route. You can travel those legs in the opposite direction, of course.
We are visiting Bergen later this month. When looking at day trip options to see the fjords, we booked the Norway in a Nutshell trip others here have mentioned. After some research, we also booked this one for Hardangerfjord, in case it gives you any ideas! https://rodne.no/en/fjord-experiences/bergen/hardangerfjord-cruise-to-rosendal/
