We could use some help with options for getting from Balestrand to Bergen on a Sunday in late June. Our itinerary has been completed for some time, but I've just become aware that the Sunday morning express boat to Bergen ceases to operate on the week we are there. We had hoped to get to Bergen in the afternoon so that we can have more time to enjoy the city after being in Sognefjord area for several days. Any advice on other connections via ferries, rail, etc would be appreciated.

I cannot give you details of the booking but we took the ferry from Balestrand to Flam and then the scenic Flamsbanna railyway to its end at Myrdal. At Myrdal I believe you can get on the regional trains that goes from Oslo to Bergen. We happened to go to Oslo, but one could also go to Bergen.
The Fjord 1 ferry trip to Flam was about 2 hours.
