My husband and I plan to go to Norway Summer 2026. We want to see as much of the beautiful fjords and beauty of the country as possible. I’m trying to figure out the best way to do this. Is it with one of these Norwegian cruise lines? If so, which one? Or would we be better off doing something different? Time isn’t an issue. How many days would you spend? Is it worth while taking time to go to Svalbard? Or should we just go to the northern part of Norway? Any particular sites/ expeditions we shouldn’t miss? I’m 63 and he is 67. We are in average shape. Like outdoor activities.
The best way is very much a matter of opinion. But you should not just go to northern Norway. The most popular fjords, that are often considered the most beautiful, are in the southwestern part of the country. Roughly between Stavanger and Trondheim. A trip with Kystruten can be a good idea, the scenery is great, but you should do a bit of land travel as well to see the inner parts. Norway in a Nutshell is a good option, it's popular for a reason.

Here are a few to get you started.
In 2023 we boarded the Hurtigruten Coastal ferry from Kirkenes after a 2 night stay going all the way to Bergen. After 2 nights in Bergen we did a DIY Norway in a Nutshell with an overnight in Flåm on our way to Oslo. After a couple days in Oslo we flew to Ålesund on the western coast for a 3 night stay before flying home. From Ålesund we were able to take a day cruise into the Geirangerfjord one day and an all day tour the next day to the Trollstigen that also gave us fantastic views looking down at the fjord from above.
While I know we only saw a small part of Norway, we felt we got a good sampling of this beautiful country.
Agree widely to Badger.
A mix between car round trip and coastal route by ship delivers the best impression in my opinion.
I recommend to let out Svalbard. This ecosystem is in collapse already; more tourists increase the damage.
How many time and budget do you plan?
