Gundvangen Avalanche: no bus to Voss!

Mother Nature has forced us to change plans.

At Oslo Sentralstajon on board the 8:25am train to Bergen: the conductor just informed the train that, due to a recent avalanche, the bus route that connects Gundvangen to Voss is CANCELED.

They offered a couple of solutions. Skip Flåm altogether and continue on straight to Bergen.

Or, take the Flåmbahn rail from Myrdal to Flåm...then eventually double-back, reversing the route from Flåm to Myrdal, rejoining a direct train to Bergen.

I don't know yet, but I assume the ferry from Flåm to Gundvangen is still running. You'd just stay on for a round-trip back to Flåm.

I suppose there is one other solution: from Flåm take the long passenger ferry to Bergen. I think this runs once a day. I'm not sure and will find out more. If anyone knows this route, please respond.

In May I did the train from Oslo to Myrdal, the Flam railway to Flam, and the express boat from Flam to Balestrand. This express boat continued to Bergen. It's a very scenic boat ride.

According to the Norled schedule (https://www.norled.no/contentassets/dda9d4d3d61d4b158bc23c5692747de5/oppdatert-flamrute-juli-2016.pdf), it departs from Flam today at 3:30 pm and arrives in Bergen at 8:45.

Hope that helps. Good luck!

[EDIT]
I just realized that because of the time difference my advice probably got to you too late to be useful.

Hope everything worked out okay!

Thanks for the replies all. Seems like most people are split between the two options: 3:30pm Flam to Bergen boat, and Flam-Myrdal-Bergen train.

It's great to have these two great options. Both beautiful.

A local guy here said they will probably have the road fixed by Monday, over the weekend. That would be around Aug 1 2016.

For those of you reading this now and need the status, I got a quick response from the Twitter account for the railroad, @nsb_no.
