Hi sorry in advance as I know the Norway in Nutshell tour is often discussed.
I am booking my own tickets and am stuck on the Gudvangen to Bergen sections.
Rick says that there will be buses meeting each ferry or within one hour and I can pay on the bus. But both Rome to Rio and the Fjordtour sites show only twice daily departures and that would be a several hour wait ( I am traveling with 2 impatient people and one of us will be drowned in the fjord if we have to wait that long. ) help...I hate to doubt Rick but what is accurate.
Voss to Bergen Rick says we can just get tickets at station without reservation

Diane, no worries.
You want Skyss company's bus 950. There will be a lot of bus 950s waiting for the ferry passengers. Some are only for people who purchased the official NIN tour. The rest are open to you. Pay with card when you board and request senior fare if any in your party is 67 or older.

I would go ahead and book your Voss to Bergen train tickets on the vy.no site.
I find Rome to Rio site unhelpful and FjordTours only lists the buses that they contract with.

Gudvangen to Voss is on a Skyss bus. My experience (doing the reverse route) is there were buses waiting near the train station, paid cash to driver. When one was full, it pulled out and the next bus got loaded. I don't think the Fjordtour (or possibly the R2R site) shows every single train and ferry departure. But if you are buying tickets that follow the same schedule as a Fjordtour, then you should be ok. I would purchase my Voss-Bergen tickets ahead, but I don't like surprises.
FWIW, our bus from Voss to Gudvangen was a little slow due to traffic and we had to hustle to catch the ferry (got on with a couple minutes to spare). If you're going peak season this could also happen to you and then you'd have to wait for the next one. For your impatient folks, pack some snacks and enjoy the views.
