I am looking for suggestions on which glaciers to visit in the Jostedalbreen National Park.
Part of our trip includes visiting ancestral farms in the Flam and Laerdal areas. We had not planned on renting a car, but finding a way to visit these places was challenging without one. So we are renting from a local Flam company. It is 2000 NOK a day.
We are leaving Laerdalsoyri on a Tuesday morning and need to return the car to Flam on Thursday morning for our train to Oslo.
What towns are suggested for lodging to base out of on Tuesday and Wednesday nights? Would Sogndal be a good base or Solvorn?
I was considering seeing one glacier on Tuesday and a different one on Wednesday. Which glaciers would people suggest? Are there shuttles/public transport to and from glaciers? What are the drives like? I would like to limit the amount of driving on single lane roads.
