We plan to use Flytoget train from Oslo airport to the central train station. Should I get tickets ahead or just use the credit card scanner near the gate? I am worried about a machine not taking my USA card ,but I would prefer to just use the scanner. I also worry about arriving the day the airline says we will...esp. these days! Are the tickets bought ahead for a specific day? Thanks for your help!
I used my credit card at the time I needed the train, in other words, didn't buy in advance.
I liked Flytoget and choose that option for convenience of the schedule. You are probably aware that many will recommend the cheaper Vy train. Nice to have choices to my way of thinking!

I took this train from central station to the airport. I tapped my credit card to pay and it worked seamlessly. Loved how quick and easy it was, especially since I was there early in the morning.
We used the local train, but if you prefer to use the scanner with Flytoget, just do that. The Flytoget gate is easy to find in the airport lobby at the front of the terminal. There's no need to purchase before you get there.
Except for purchasing gas, using cards was very easy. We didn't use any cash on our 18-day trip.
Have a great trip!
Thanks everyone. Great information! Got what I needed; hope it helps others. Keep on travelin'!
Consider the regular train as well. Much cheaper and only a few minutes slower.
I've found nowhere in Europe in which the fact my credit card was issued by a US bank has any influence on its acceptance. But inform the CC company that you'll be overseas, and supply the dates, before traveling to avoid the bank rejecting charges.
