I'm planning a research trip to Trondheim, Norway next fall. Has anyone flown from the Seattle/Vancouver area to Trondheim? what airline do you recommend? I'll be staying in the city for a week while i do my research but I'm considering taking a ferry out to one of the islands, Hitra or Froya. Has anyone done that? Is it an overnight stay on the island and catch a ferry going back?
I flew home from Trondheim to Seattle this past May. I flew on Icelandair, connecting in Reykjavik.
I didn't visit any of the islands while I was there, so I can't advise you on that.
I stayed in a wonderful Airbnb apartment that I highly recommend. If you're interested in the details, feel free to send me a private message.
As Lane said, the easiest way from SeaTac is on Icelandic Air.
We were in Bergen last September, and it gets cold and rainy about that time of the year. Trondheim is way north.
Good tip on the weather. I'm going to try to leave in Aug 29th, arrive the 30th and get to work. It does look like Icelandic will be the best way to go. I've gone to Edmonds for a Scandinavian talk. This is all new territory for me, but I'm writing a novel and have to be there to see records.
Like to hear about the Airbnb. I found a pensionat that might work. I may have to change plans if my friends near Oslo aren't around. I doing research there.
