We are going there on a cruise. Looking to get away from the tours somewhat. Can you take the bus to the end of the fjord and then the tour boat back to town. This is the reverse of Ricks suggestion but I thought that it might be less busy. Also - wondering about a hike there. Sounds like it might be possible, but where to go?
I think the train will be crazy busy with cruisers. Maybe impossible. Definitely crazy busy.
Any other ideas for what to do there?
Did standard nin from Bergen yesterday and loved it. Weather cooperated too.
To answer your question as I understood it (wasn't sure where you get off the cruise, because some cruises take you right to flam. Costa fotuna was parked there yesterday.). Flam is a quiet town at the end of the sognefjord. Many people stay overnight. We had two hours so we hikefd by the fjord. Tourist info center has info on excursions around. Or uou can take speedboat to the world heritage arm of the fjord. On our nin, we took the slow boat (which I'm sure you can in the reverse direction.,). Crowds are there, but not overwhelming, so you should be fine.
Take the flam train too.
