We will arrive in Oslo by cruise ship on 9-6-24 at 9am and have to be back on board by 8:30 pm. About 9 years ago, I bought tickets for me and my daughter from an office in the main train station in Oslo for the Norway in a Nutshell for the next day. I seem to remember that we left early in the morning and got back late at night. The trip was on July 4th. Is there any way to take a fjord cruise in the amount of time that me and my wife have in port. We have seen the Oslo fjord during the trip 9 years ago when we sailed from Oslo to Copenhagen over night on one of the local cruise ships that makes the trip back and forth. Thanks in advance for your help.
Any flavor of the Nutshell itinerary from Oslo begins with a regular train to Myrdal and then the Flamsbana from Myrdal down to Flam. Even if you were willing to forgo the rest of the Nutshell route and return immediately to Oslo, you would be short on time by hours. The part of the Sognefjord area most often visited is much closer to Bergen than to Oslo, making round trips from Oslo much longer than through trips from Oslo to Bergen.
You'll need to choose a different activity for your port day in Oslo. I'm afraid I can't help with that unless you're big art fans.
You'll have time to visit Drammensfjorden, but it's pretty similar to Oslofjorden so I'm not sure it's worth it. But you don't have time to visit any of the more famous fjords.
