We will be traveling from Oslo to Bergen on the Norway in a Nutshell Tour in July.
We are considering adding an additional fjord tour on one of our days in Bergen. I have looked at Monstraumen Fjord Cruise or Rodne Fjord Cruise.
I would appreciate your thoughts as to if this will be worthwhile and if so, which company. We have two full days in Bergen. Thanks!
Have you considered taking the boat from Flam to Bergen instead of the Nutshell route? 8t goes through the Sognefjord.
The Flam-Bergen express boat doesn't go through the Naeroyfjord, which is narrower and thus more scenic than the wide Sognefjord. I wouldn't consider the express boat a good substitute.
Yes, I’ve done the fast boat three times (the boat between Bergen and Flåm or in my case, one stop before, Bergen and Balestrand), and also taken local boats in the Sognefjord and concur with acraven's statement that the express boat is no substitute for the Naerøyfjord or other smaller arms of the fjord seen more up close. It’s just not the same experience at all.
